Fur-Ever Homes: Finding the Perfect Home for You and Your Pets in Amador County | Janelle Foyil REALTOR®

There’s something special about coming home and hearing that familiar sound — the excited paws rushing to greet you at the door. For many of us, our pets are family. They shape our routines, fill our homes with love, and yes — sometimes even influence our real estate decisions.

As a REALTOR® (and proud fur mom myself), I’ve seen just how much pets change the way we look at homes. The backyard isn’t just a yard anymore; it’s a playground. The hardwood floors aren’t just elegant — they’re easier to clean after muddy adventures. And that cozy window nook? It’s where your cat will spend most of their afternoons, basking in the sunshine like royalty.

🏡 What Pet Owners Should Consider When Buying a Home

If your furry friend is part of your family (and let’s be honest — they always are), here are a few things to keep in mind when house hunting:

1. Outdoor Space

\A fenced yard is a dream for dogs who love to roam safely. Even if you prefer something smaller, look for nearby parks, trails, or pet-friendly spaces that make walk time easy and enjoyable.

2. Flooring & Finishes

Durable, easy-to-clean surfaces like laminate or tile can save you from fur tumbleweeds and scratch marks. Bonus points if the layout allows a little “mud room” space for quick cleanups after playtime.

3. Pet-Friendly Neighborhoods

Before you fall in love with a home, explore the community. Are there dog parks, groomers, or vet clinics nearby? Does the HOA have pet restrictions? A neighborhood that welcomes pets makes life much smoother for everyone.

4. Layout & Comfort

Think about how your pet lives. Older pets may struggle with stairs, while kittens and puppies might find every corner to explore. Look for spaces that feel safe, open, and comfortable for both of you.

❤️ Where Home Meets Heart

At the end of the day, buying a home isn’t just about square footage or finishes — it’s about belonging. And for pet parents, that means finding a space where every member of the family — tails and all — feels at home.

My name is Janelle (DRE # 02026277). I specialize in first-time home buyers, divorce buyers/sellers, investor sales, and VA buyers/sellers. By listing your home with me, you will receive the most for your home possible. I grew up in Wyoming, and before I became an agent, I worked as a loan processor for Pinnacle Bank. I later moved to the Black Hills, where I purchased a log home just a couple miles from Mt. Rushmore. As a homeowner, I understand the challenges buyers face—especially single buyers navigating the emotional process of divorce. My family were property managers who repaired, replaced, and flipped homes. With my background in loans, I also sold mortgage loans in the Black Hills before becoming a Buyer’s Agent in Hill City, SD in 2005. I then sold real estate in Rapid City, South Dakota until I moved to California.
